Well Dressings 2013

Peak District Well Dressings 2013

One of the great summer features of the Peak District is the pagan fertility ritual of Well Dressings. This has almost been adopted by Christian churches, and results in all kinds of colourful displays to decorate local villages. Rokeby Cottage is in a great location if this is something you want to see, and as you are self-catering you can easily be flexible about your day trips to these great events.

The full listing of Well Dressings for 2013 is now out. Here are a few dates of the activity in the local area:

Hathersage Well Dressing is on from July 6th to 13th.

Hope Well Dressing is on from July 22nd until July 27th.

Eyam Well Dressing is from August 22nd until September 1st.

Some of the more spectacular Well Dressings are in the While Peak area such as Tideswell, Tissington, Cressbook and Ashford in the Water. These are all no more than a short drive from where you will be staying in Hathersage.

You should allow at least an hour to stroll through the village and see all the Well Dressing elements which generally are put together by the local school, church and other aspects of the community.

Full details about the history of Well Dressing and the dates for all locations can be found on the Peak District Visitor Information site.
